Not every surface can handle traditional sand or steel grit. Our green blasting process uses eco-friendly abrasive media — like walnut shell, soda, and corn cob — to strip coatings and residue without over-stripping delicate substrates. See it work with a free on-site test blast.
Green blasting uses biodegradable, environmentally responsible abrasive media — like walnut shell, soda, and corn cob — in place of traditional silica sand or steel grit. These media are softer and lower-impact, which makes them suited to surfaces that would be damaged, pitted, or over-stripped by harsher abrasives: historic masonry, delicate wood, soft metals, and surfaces near landscaping or waterways where runoff and disposal matter.
The tradeoff with any abrasive process is aggression versus control. Traditional media strips fast but can be unforgiving on fragile or historic surfaces. Green media gives us a gentler option without giving up the core benefit of blasting — removing coatings and buildup without chemical strippers or hours of hand labor.
This makes green blasting a natural fit alongside our wood blasting and brick & masonry sandblasting work, especially on older or more delicate structures.
We use eco-friendly abrasive media across a range of sensitive applications throughout North Florida:
gentle enough for older, softer materials
beams, siding, and furniture sensitive to aggressive media
surfaces that would pit or warp under harsher abrasives
where runoff and media disposal matter
Call (904) 977-0117 and walk us through the project — the surface, its age or fragility, and any environmental considerations. We'll tell you straight whether green media is the right fit.
We inspect the surface and run a complimentary test blast with eco-friendly media so you can see the real result before committing to anything.
Based on the test blast and site conditions, you get a fully itemized quote. No lump-sum guessing, no hidden add-ons.
Our self-contained mobile rig sets up on-site and completes the blasting. When we're done, we collect and haul away all debris and spent media before we leave.
You don’t have to take our word for how your surface will respond to eco-friendly media. We blast a real section first, at no cost, so you can see the result before you approve the full job.
Walnut shell, soda, and corn cob media strip coatings and residue while being gentler on delicate substrates and lower-impact on the surrounding environment.
Every quote is itemized and explained. What we quote is what you pay — no surprise line items after the work starts.
Our full-size, towable rig runs the whole operation on-site — no shop drop-off, no waiting on a second trip for equipment.
Our media choices align with EPA pollution prevention (P2) principles, reducing waste and environmental impact at the source, and we follow OSHA abrasive blasting standards (29 CFR 1910.94) on every job.
We come to you — Starke, Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Gainesville, Orlando, Daytona Beach, and Brunswick, GA. Read more About Us to see who’s behind the rig.
We use biodegradable abrasive media — like walnut shell, soda, and corn cob — instead of traditional silica sand, reducing waste and environmental impact.
It’s often the better choice for these surfaces. Softer media reduces the risk of pitting or over-stripping fragile, historic, or aged materials.
For the surfaces it’s suited to, yes — it removes coatings and residue effectively while being gentler on the substrate. It’s about matching the media to the job, not one media being universally “better.”
Whenever the surface is delicate, historic, or environmentally sensitive. See our FAQs for more on how we decide which media fits your project.
